Safety Boats

The Club operates three safety boats, two Ribcraft,  Mallard II and Redwing, and a Dell Quay Dory, Osprey.

All 3 boats are fitted with Evinrude engines.  The Operations Manual is below:

This is the Killcord Switch, as found on each boat.  The Killcord is to be worn by the helm at all times.

RYA Power Boat courses and Safety Boat courses are run by the club each year and qualified members can helm and crew the boats. Power Boat refresher courses are also offered to qualified helms at the start of each season in order to maintain boat handling skills and ensure helms are aware of any changes to the RYA Power Boat regulations.

If unsure about any aspect of Safety Boat use, please seek advice from either the Club Bosun, or a Powerboat Instructor.

After use please report any defects with the boat or safety equipment on the message board in the control tower.

We also have a Plymouth Pilot.

"Puffin" is to be used as a general utility boat and will also be used for Committee Boat racing.

A 19HP Yanmar diesel engine gives "Puffin" steady and reliable performance with excellent stability and control.
