1.         The series is restricted to NDYC cadets and Sea Scouts who are not 18 years old by the start of the series.

2.         The helm must be at least a RYA level 3, and the crew at least RYA level 1 if they are using club boats.

3.         Cadet Picos and private boats may be used. All boats taking part must have a PY of 1190 or above.  The PY of each boat will be used to calculate its handicap. Various examples of PYs are shown.

 Topaz    1UP Una Rig  1024
 Topaz2UP Main & Jib  1190
 Pico1UP Una Rig  1259
 Pico 1UP Main & Jib  1260
 Pico2UP Main & Jib 1263
 Topper1UP    Una Rig  1290
 Mirror1 or 2 UP Main & Jib  1386

4.         For a separate cadet race to take place there must be at least 3 boats taking part.

5.         There will be a racing fee for each race of £1.50 for each cadet if the helm or crew does not have a racing season ticket.  Any cadets who have paid their £21 season ticket for racing fees will not be charged more.

6.         The race will be started in the Tower by the Race Officer no earlier than the time published above.

7.         If a cadet wishes to take part in a race, they should sign on in the changing rooms lobby, using the Brannam Cup sign-on sheet.

8.         If more cadets want to use the club Picos than there are Picos available then the Race Officer will oversee a draw for the boats when the cadets sign on.

9.       As last year the scoring will be in accordance with low point system as amended by rule A9.  At the end of the series helms will be able to discard their 2 worst results out of 9 (so only their 7 best results count) if 7 – 9 races are run, if less than 7 races are run then there will be only 1 discard.  The winner of the Brannam Cup is the helm with the least points after discards.

10.       If a cadet is rostered for safety boat duty in the yearbook, then they must do safety boat duty as this takes precedence.  When this occurs they will be credited with ‘an average score’ at the end of the season for that race.

11.       If there are any complaints (apart from racing protests) then they must be brought to the cadet committee.  Racing protests will be dealt with under the usual system.

12.       The new Fairer Racing Rules must be followed at all times.  These will be posted on the club cadet notice board.

There will be a rescue boat assigned to each race, and it is hoped that some of the entrants will volunteer to help crew the rescue boat for the cadet races.

Each Sunday after the race has finished the scores will be put up on the notice board.

It is hoped that as many of the cadets as possible will take part in the events.  The more boats we have taking part the better the competition.

Come and Take Part

Look forward to seeing you on the water
